Free, on every cake, in Hindi or English. It is piped by hand rather than printed, so it looks like someone made it for you — and so it can be a name, a date, a nickname, a line nobody else would understand.
Keep it short. A name and a short greeting reads beautifully; four lines of text squeezed onto a 1 pound cake reads as small grey writing. If the message is long, a larger cake or a bento with the message as the whole design is the better call.
Getting the spelling right
Send us the exact text on WhatsApp, written the way you want it to appear — capitals, spacing, the lot. We pipe what we're given, so a spelling we're sent is a spelling we write.
Read it twice before you send. A name spelled wrong on a birthday cake is not a small thing, and it is the one mistake that can't be fixed at the door.
A name and a photo on the same cake
The photo goes on an edible printed sheet laid onto the cake; the writing is piped around it, usually below or along the top edge. That works well when the photo is a face or two with some plain background — there is room left to write in.
A group photo blown up to fill the top leaves no clear space, and writing over a busy picture is unreadable. Send the picture and the wording together and we'll tell you before we start whether they fit, and suggest a size that makes them fit if they don't.
