We do not accept returns
Every cake and dessert AVS Bakery sells is a fresh, perishable food item, baked to order for you. Once an order has been handed over we cannot take it back, resell it, or put it back into the kitchen — food safety law and plain common sense both forbid it.
So: no returns and no exchanges on any edible item after delivery or collection. This is not a restocking preference; it is what selling fresh food means. Please check your order at the door before you accept it.
Cancelling before delivery
You can cancel free of charge from the app or by messaging us, as long as both of these are still true: we have not started baking your order, and the delivery slot is more than 2 hours away.
Once you are inside that 2-hour window the cancel button stops working, because by then your cake is being finished for the run. If something has genuinely gone wrong, WhatsApp or call +919709170270, email hello@avsbakery.in, or come to the counter at Bazar Tand, near Sidhu Kanhu Ground, Ramgarh Cantt, Jharkhand 829122. We will do what we can, but we cannot promise it.
Personalised orders — a photo printed on the cake, a message piped on it, a name on a gift — cannot be cancelled once we have confirmed them, whatever the clock says. A cake with someone else's photograph on it cannot be sold to anybody else.
If we cancel an order ourselves (an ingredient fails, the kitchen cannot deliver on the day, your area becomes unreachable), you pay nothing and we tell you as early as we can.
If something is wrong with what we delivered
We would rather hear about it than not. Report a problem from the order screen in the app within 24 hours of delivery, and attach photographs of the cake and the box. Photographs are not us doubting you — they are the only evidence that can exist for an item nobody can send back.
Reports that reach us after 24 hours cannot be assessed. A cake left out of the fridge overnight tells us nothing about the state it left our kitchen in.
We investigate what you send against our kitchen and delivery records, and we tell you the outcome.
What you get if we were at fault
Where we accept the fault — the cake arrived damaged, the wrong flavour or item was sent, the message was printed wrong, part of the order was missing — we issue store credit to your account for the affected part of the order, up to the full amount you paid for it.
Store credit is applied automatically to your next order at checkout. It is valid for 180 days from the day it is issued. It cannot be exchanged for cash and cannot be transferred to another account.
We do not refund money. Because we take payment in cash on delivery, there is no card or bank transaction to reverse; credit against your next order is the remedy we offer, and it is the only one.
Matters of taste — you found it too sweet, the shade of pink was not the one you pictured, the design differs from a reference photograph in ways a handmade cake always will — are not faults and are not credited.
Failed deliveries
If nobody is available at the address, the rider waits 15 minutes and calls the number on the order. If we still cannot hand it over, the order is charged in full and treated as delivered.
We hold the cake at the shop for the rest of that day so you can collect it. We cannot hold it overnight and we cannot re-deliver it the next day — it is fresh food, and by then it is no longer the cake you ordered.
The same applies if the delivery address turns out to be wrong, unreachable, or outside our delivery area after the order was accepted.
Refusing at the door
You may refuse an order at the door if it is visibly damaged or clearly not what you ordered. Tell the rider why, and let them photograph it before they leave.
A refusal for any other reason is a cancellation after the cut-off: the order is charged in full, because the cake exists and cannot be sold again.
Something here not clear?
Ask us before you order rather than after — we would far rather explain a rule than argue about one.
