We sell by the pound, not the kilo, which is how bakeries here have always priced. A 1 pound cake serves about 4 to 6 people; a 2 pound serves about 8 to 12. For a bigger gathering than that, message us and we'll plan the size with you rather than guess.
Those numbers assume cake as dessert after a meal. If the cake IS the party food — an office celebration, a late-evening gathering with no dinner — go up a size.
Children's birthdays vs grown-up ones
For children, the design usually matters more than the flavour, and the safe flavours are chocolate and vanilla. Cartoon and theme cakes need a reference picture and a couple of days' notice — a sculpted design is not a same-day job.
For adults, the flavour carries the cake: butterscotch, black forest, red velvet and coffee are the four we're asked for most. A plain cake in the right flavour, written on well, beats a rushed themed one.
